Calvin Coolidge once said, “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated failures. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”

Mary Bishop’s fall tour launches
Next stop – Chicago:
After her private party, a book signing at McNally Robinson Booksellers, and talking to 1000 Saskatoon students and teachers, Mary headed to Regina to do it all again. In Regina she spoke to two schools and a public library and did a book signing at Book and Brier Patch.
She started the week of October 22 by visiting Moose Jaw schools and will proceed south to visit Lampman, Oxbow, Estevan, Ogema, Milestone, Weyburn, Arcola, Manor, Carlyle, Windthorst, Kipling and Grenfell. These visits may change slightly.
Saskatoon highlights:
Students and teachers wore costumes. Train sounds emerged through the mist from a smoke machine. An old street light set the mood for Mary Harelkin Bishop’s talks. Thanks to all of you!
Regina highlights:
Students and teachers wore costumes and at Wilfred Hunt school Mary and her publishers were arrested by a small gangster waving a wooden Tommy gun. The school pledge was repeated and when it was over, Gord and Maureen of Trek 2000 Corporation and Mary Bishop were initiated as honourary Hunt Hornets. The young man carrying the wooden Tommy gun seemed concerned about the scar on the left cheek of Gord Haddock. Perhaps he has read Mary’s book.
Mary will meet Gord and Maureen in Moose Jaw on the weekend for a book signing at the Tunnels of Moose Jaw. Of course there will be lots of drama at this event.
